INTENSE SITUATIONS OF PERIL
Flor de Muerto

On Thursday, January 15, 2009, as part of the 3rd Thursday series at {open}, Intense Situations of Peril performed a live interpretation of Torreyana, a previous ISOP project by members Glenn Bach, shea M gauer and scott A peterson.

For the forthcoming release of Flor de Muerto on MPRNTBL, I am asking for your original working files, as well as re-creations of what you broadcast that night (or what you would have played, for those who were not present that evening). I will then assemble these sounds into a mixed approximation of the recorded January 15th sets.

You may revisit the original samples below and do with them what you will: remix, resample, cut up, and reinterpret. You may also restage your contribution to the gig altogether.

Deadline: Friday, March 6, 2009. Send a link to your files online, or mail a CD to: Glenn Bach, UWM Department of Film, Mitchell Hall B-60, 3203 N. Downer Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53211. Also, please include a brief (or lengthy) description of your approach, techniques, and/or process.

Thanks!

Glenn Bach

Elemental Track Notes

* Bach, various: "With some of these files, particularly those derived from Babel, I either deleted all of the recognizable dialogue or compressed the entire sample into a fraction of the original duration."

Intense Situations of Peril is an improvising ensemble of electronic/laptop musicians who perform new, hybridized soundtracks to the cities in which they perform. Source material sampled from the audio track of a mainstream motion picture filmed in a particular city is collaged with raw audiovisual data collected on location. With a fluctuating roster of touring and local musicians and video artists, the ensemble will sample and manipulate the city's source material, improvising a completely unrehearsed image stream and soundscape, a one-of-a-kind audiovisual remix of place.
