PantherFile Tutorial

1. Go to PantherFile by navigating to the main UWM web page and locating the Quicklinks pulldown menu:


 

2. This is what the PantherFile page will look like. Type in your PantherID, your password, and click OK.

 

 

3. The left side of the screen will look like this . . .

 

. . . and the right side will look like this.

4. Click "New Folder" in the menu bar on the right side.

 

5. Name your new folder "Public." If a Public folder already exists on your PantherFile, then use these steps to create your "FILM_116" folder as a sub-folder within "Public . . ."

 

. . . Click "Next."

 

 

6. Skip the "Choose Users" page by clicking "Next."



7. IMPORTANT: Check both buttons under "Viewer (Read Only)" for both Authenticated Users and Public . Don't click the buttons under "Contributor (Read, Write, Delete)." Click the button that says "Apply the changed permissions to this folder as well as its sub-folders and files. Click "Next" in the lower right.

 

8. Skip the "Configure" page by clicking "Next . . ."


 

. . . Unclick the box that says "Send the below email when I click Finish." Then click "Finish" in the lower right.



 

9. Please note that if you make a mistake and create a folder you no longer want, or if you accidentally put a space in the folder name, you can click the box next to the offending folder and remove it by clicking "Delete."


10. Double-click on the "FILM_116" folder and follow the steps above to add three sub-folders to your FILM_116 folder: "clips," "sounds," and "stills."

 

11. To upload a file to "stills" (or any folder or sub-folder), double-click on the "stills" folder (or whichever folder you need). Note that there is a trail of "breadcrumbs" near the top that will always tell you where you are among your PantherFile folders . . .

 

. . . Click "Upload" in the upper right.


 

12. Click "Browse . . .

 

. . . and point to the image you wish to upload.

 

 

13. After the image location populates into the rectangle . . .

 

. . . click on the box that says "Overwrite file if it already exists," and then click on "Start Upload."

 

14. Right-click on the image title . . .

 

. . . Select "Open in Browser."

 

 

15. A new window (or tab) will appear with your full-sized image. Highlight the URL and copy it. You will then paste this URL into the link field when positioning your images in Blogger (see the Blogger tutorial for more info).

 

16. And that's it. Repeat as needed to upload your MP3s and maps/stills for Drift 1, and your Quicktime movie clips and MP3s for Drift 2.
