COURSE DESCRIPTION
Sound as Art explores the use of sound in gallery exhibitions, site-specific works, exterior or architectural installations, and soundwalks. Students will experiment with numerous tools and techniques of live sound performance as well as solo and group improvisation. We will also explore the broader role of sound art, with readings, listening sessions, and discussions about the historical lineage of sound, as well as contemporary models of sound art installation and performance. There may also be occasional guest lectures, visiting artists, and field trips. Prerequisite: ?
